Live Garma debut!
Diesel n’Dub’s live debut at Australia’s premier Indigenous cultural event, Garma Festival sparked intense media interest resulting in an invitation to perform a closing song for the live broadcast of ABC’s Q&A program beaming live across the nation from the festival site. Performing with Emma Donovan, Radical Son, Pat Powell, Winston Stephenson and Jonathan Pease, Declan Kelly was overwhelmed by the positive response to the Diesel n’Dub set. The event was the first time that Q&A was hosted outside the studio and the first time they had an all-Indigenous panel. Diesel n’Dub performed a very fitting dub acoustic version of The Dead Heart with Emma Donovan on lead vocal, honoured to have had the opportunity to be part of such an historic event! The Guardian called the performance “stirring” and the ABC uploaded this video, which you can watch below. Declan commented “I am extremely honoured to be invited to perform and launch our Diesel n’Dub album up in Garma Festival Yolngu Country Arnhem Land. A big celebration of indigenous culture through song, dance (bungul), yidaki, and a few classic Midnight Oil tunes done inna reggae style. Yo Manymak!”
